Mikey Clancey passes away aged 22

The British Wavesailing Association has recently learned of the tragic death of Mikey Clancy. Aged 22, Mikey was a regular competitor at BWA and Irish wave competitions. In 2012 he also competed at world level on the PWA tour.
But it is his escapades at Magheroarty on the Irish coast where he surfed some of the most challenging Irish waves, that he will be remembered by many when videos of his sailing went viral throughout 2012.

What is most shocking to all his friends is that his life ended just as it was taking off in windsurfing. It was clear that the gregarious Irishman was set for very big things in the world of windsurfing.

From our own experience, Mikey will be remembered as one of the most affable, humble and humorous characters on the British Tour. He will be hugely missed.
